That's a great splurge photo! Should see you through for a couple of weeks reading material too... I've read a couple of books in your pile and mean to read more so I look forward to seeing what you make of them.

Wow, what a stack! I've read The Birth of Venus and also Embers, and loved them both. I have some of the others (The Book Thief, Saving Fish from Drowning, and Brick Lane) but haven't read them yet. Enjoy!!

The only ones I have read are The Birth of Venus and The Book Thief.

Nope, but I have Lisa See's book on my TBR list as well as The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

You must put away all other reading and devour The Book Thief now. NOW! :)

Oooh, nice haul!

Think I'm going to tell the hubby that I read it was National Book Splurge Day...technically not a lie, as I did read it, right? (Shhh...lies of omission don't count.)

I've read Women of the Silk, and have several more of those titles on my TBR. Great photo!

peta- haha, thanks I got some money and what else would I spend it on!?! :)

ex libris- I know, crazy! I had some good book karma at goodwill this last time!I can't figure out why people give their books to goodwill!!

marg- I have heard great things about both of those, I can't wait to read the Book Thief!!

j.kaye oldner- sounds like you have some good TBRs as well!! I can't wait to read these.

Trish- I know, I know I should..the only problem is that I am currently reading a book, and that after this one I NEED to read an ARC....but after that I know I will read it!! :) you all loved it so much, I am so curious!

debi- sure!!! Why not, a national book splurge day should be instituted for sure. Tell him I said so! hahahah!

jeane- I really want to get to that one too...that is the bad thing about getting more than one good book at a time, it causes mental chaos!

iliana- well, isn't national book splurge day EVERYDAY?!?! you didn't miss it! You all love the Book Thief...I better get to it!

corinne- I know, right?!

katrina- yay!!! So happy you got the book. I bought two at the book store, one for you and one for me...You'll have to tell me when you read it, and if you enjoy it.

I've only read The Book Thief, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

There's nothing like getting new books. Speaking of which, History of Love arrived today...thanks again! I can't wait to read it.

nymeth- oh you are so right about that! nothing.I have heard so many stunning things about the book, the only fear I have is that my expectations will be TOO high...but from what you all are saying that isn't even a possibility.

I hope you enjoy the book I sent you.

I love going on a little book splurge. :-) I tried to be good today and only walked out of the bookstore today with two books.

Of those on your list, I have read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan (loved, loved the book!) and The Birth of Venus (which I enjoyed quite a bit). Breath, Eyes, Memory was also very good. I love Edwidge Danticat's writing style.

It looks like you have some good reading ahead of you!

First, love the photo. How you're seeing if you can hold them up without dropping it, or so it appears. Out of the ones you have, I've only read the Sedaris and can say get ready to laugh. The Zusak book is on my list of books to be read, and Amy Tan, I know is always good, so I have no doubt that one will be good as well.
