other worlds

btt button

Q:Are there any particular worlds in books where you’d like to live?

A:Oh, I would love to live in many of the worlds, even many of them that seem dangerous or too unknown for comfort. I currently have been reading a lot about Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and India. And while these nations are not where I would move my family right now, there is a pull for me to them, no matter how unsafe I still crave a visit at least. I know for sure since I am fluent in Spanish, that any Spanish speaking nation would be a dream to visit for sure.

I have also been very enticed by mystical worlds, worlds not altogether true, but very true when you read them. Places such as Hobbiton, in The Lord Of The Rings books are so fantastic that I actually dreamed several times that I was living there.

Q:Or where you certainly would NOT want to live?

A:I can honestly say that there is no place that if I was given a ticket to that I would not go. I promise. I love travel, I love to see and enjoy a place for the first time. And although, as I mention above some places are in more difficult situations and the journey would not be carefree, but I believe it would always be worth it. There is too much to learn from other places, other peoples, and cultures.

Q: What about authors? If you were a character, who would you trust to write your life?

A: Oh, If I were a character I would...well I have no idea. I have never thought of authors in combo with me. I think that that is a hard question. I don't have any idea. I think my main problem is that I read mainly fiction, and my story would be non-fiction if it were my story, and I don't have any idea at all.

You're much braver than I am! I have comfort issues.

I would love to live at Bag End and commented earlier on someone else's BTT post that it would be fabulous to live in a world where you could travel to visit the elves. :D

I love the pictures you included. I would love to experience those countries myself, but only if my safety could be guaranteed. I'm more of a chicken than you are. :)

I feel like you, there really is no place on earth I would not want to see and experience, I mentioned Russia. For now, it is a country in transition and maybe I would wait until it would be more crime free to visit it's museums, ballets, many beautiful places.

I feel like I could visit any place, but I am not sure about wanting to stay long term.

Great post. Travelling anywhere is about as good as it gets. Love your pics.

softdrink- I don't think I would want to live there forever...but I would for sure like to try them all!

peta- oh yes! I love elves and elven things :)

those pics were so pretty that I had to. I am super visual, so I need something like pictures to keep my attention :)

madeleine- yes, that would be a dream come true!

beastmomma- I have to agree with you to a degree. I would love to go, but I would want to retain the option to leave when I wanted.

karen harrington- yes for sure! traveling is so amazing.

Yes, I would want the option to leave at my leisure. I was trying to say that I would not want to live somewhere indefinately without the chance to check it out first.

The pictures help your answer come alive. Thanks.

Well then--you'd probably really like the book I just finished (The God of Small Things--set in India). I've always been fascinated by Eastern cultures but I don't know if I could brave living over there right now--especially since I'm sure there is a little bit of animosity toward Americans.

There are so many beautiful people and cultures out there--it certainly would be fun to explore all the places I have read about. Perhaps someday when some of those areas are not torn by war and violence, I will get that opportunity.

Your photos and choice of artwork always add so much to your posts. I don't know. I'm just sayin'. :)
